  2. family, though with much shorter legs and
  3. neck, found in the tropical rainforests of
  4. central Africa. Purplish brown with creamy
  5. face and black and white stripes on the legs
  6. and hindquarters, it is excellently
  7. camouflaged. Okapis have remained virtually
  8. unchanged for millions of years. Unknown to
  9. Europeans until 1901, only a few hundred are
  10. thought to survive.
